Why should you choose me as your driving instructor?…

Feeling at ease, in what can initially be a daunting environment, and the ability to get on with your driving instructor is of paramount importance for effective learning to take place. Described by my past and present students as calm, friendly and approachable I aim to help you feel safe and confident enough to try your best, knowing I’ve got your back.

My manual car is fitted with dual controls giving you that peace of mind that, if you need it, I can come in physically to help you and keep you safe.

I take your future driving safety very seriously, I am not the type of instructor to teach you just to pass a test. My students going to test will need to show a very high standard of driving ability and have the right attitude to their own safety and that of other road users.

I have completed a Open University course on Autism awareness and have some experience teaching students who are neurodiverse and those with anxiety.

I have also completed a DVSA recognised course to enable me to help mature drivers stay safe on the roads for as long as possible.

What will your driving lessons be like?

Your driving lessons will be tailored to your needs, whether you are a complete beginner or just needing help in certain areas. Everyone progresses at different rates and so too will your lessons.

At the start of every lesson we will discuss your progress so far, and between us set some goals; ‘what do you want to achieve by the end of the lesson?’. These goals may focus on key skills, such as car control or deciding when to go at roundabouts, it all depends on what your needs are. These goals may change during the lesson depending on how the lesson is progressing, but you are at the centre of the learning process.

We will then go off and practice the skills, initially with any help and support that may be needed, but all the time working towards your independence.

During, and at the end of the lesson, we will reflect on how it’s going, what’s going well, why it’s gone well, what still needs more work, and from that make a plan for the following lesson’s goals.
